The Abraham Darby School Choir (in Telford, Shropshire) were so successful in the 1970's that they appeared on television programmes like "The Golden Shot" and "ATV Today" and even made an album of their favourite music. Following a reunion of some members of this choir, Cadence was born and has been together for approximately 8 years. The group has since grown to fifteen members. We meet every week at Broseley in Shropshire to rehearse, and we perform regularly around Shropshire boosting funds for various organisations including the many religious denominations in the area national charities including Multiple Sclerosis and Cancer Research. As all profits are donated to the charity or organisation, demand for our singing is growing rapidly. In 2002 we made a CD which is on sale at all venues. The CD includes the titles I Got Rhythm, The Continental, Perhaps Love, Let's Do It , Lullaby Of Birdland, Tea for Two, Night and Day, They Can't Take That Away from Me, A Medley From 'Oliver', Thank You For The Music, My Heart Will Go On, Oh Lovely Heart, Mary of Allendale, An Evening's Pastorale, From a Distance, Steal Away.

December 2003-
Our new Musical Director is already a member of the group. Bev Ball teaches music in Shrewsbury and is an experienced musical director. She is already working hard on our behalf and we look forward to working under her direction in 2004.
Our accompanist Elizabeth Edgerton has also retired after a long and successful career in music. Liz joined us last year and has attended almost every rehearsal and performance, involving an 80-mile round trip each time - and refused all offers of payment. We all miss her very much and we thank her for her dedication, good humour and endless patience.
We are pleased to welcome Lyndon Dolman to our group. Lyndon is a professional singer and has toured the holiday spots of Southern Europe and South America with his singing group. He joins us as a very welcome tenor.
We are now looking for an accompanist. He or she will not be required at every rehearsal, but must be reliable and be able to follow a score and direction. There will be no formal audition; instead, we will invite you to accompany us during a rehearsal. Please email here if you are interested.

Cadence now needs a new tenor (high male or low female voice) and an accompanist. If this is you, and you have an interest in singing and would like to know more about the group please feel free to contact us. The reading of music is not a prerequisite but it does help. All we ask for is a singing voice which will blend in with the group, and a good musical ear. We do not hold auditions - we will ask you to come along to a rehearsal and audition us! Contact us here.
The music we perform ranges from the Renaissance period to the present-day; sacred through to secular. A typical selection from a concert might include a wide variety of music, but many concerts can also be themed to suit the venue.
